New Release Tuesday

An idealistic FBI agent is enlisted by a government task force to aid in the escalating war against drugs at the border area between the U.S. and Mexico.  Good looking movie and Del Toro is good in anything.  I am glad this is finally came out because the theatrical release for this was way too small.

Two siblings become incredibly frightened by their grandparents disturbing behavior, while visiting them on vacation.  I wrote off Shyamalan a long time ago but this got some nice press so it may be worthy of checking out.

Season one was one of the greatest TV seasons I have ever seen.  Word of mouth was not kind on this season so I am proceeding with caution.

From director Eli Roth comes a horror flick about a group of student activists travels to the Amazon to save the rain forest and soon discover that they are not alone, and that no good deed goes unpunished.  If it is from Eli this has to be pretty wild.

Two teenage boys unwittingly summon an ancient evil entity known as The Blind One by delving into black magic while trying to escape their mundane lives.  From director Jason Lei Howden he is more known for doing visual effects for the recent Hobbit movies, Man of Steel, The Avengers, and many more.

Eastwood is back as a troubled man runs away to Mexico and is recruited to join a paramilitary group of teens fighting the drug cartels. He proves himself to the group, but questions their motive.  Dammit, that's the wrong Eastwood!  I must admit the younger Eastwood has quite a career going and also has a Western coming out later this year.

Sly Retires Rambo

Per Variety magazine:

Despite planning over several years to do a fifth one, Stallone has retired his iconic military war hero John Rambo with the actor revealing he has no intention of reprising his role: "The heart's willing, but the body says 'Stay home!'. It's like fighters that go back for one last round and get clobbered. Leave it to someone else... There's nothing left. When they asked me to do another 'Rambo,' I said, 'If I can't do better than I did last time, and I can't, then why'?"

I have mixed feelings about this because Sly has teased us for a few years now that Rambo would be back and I loved the Mexico hostage story line.  But Rambo (aka John Rambo) had such a great ending that there is no need to have Rambo carry on, he is home.  With the success of Creed it seems Sly maybe steering away from action to more dramatic roles which I feel is a great move for this stage of his career.  So long John J!
