New Release Tuesday

Shout Factory brings us this tale of William Devane as a returning Vietnam vet who does not receive the warmest of welcomes when coming home.  He and his wife run into some bad dudes that do them quite a bit of damage, notice the cover.  This then turns into a revenge flick as Devane recruits his buddy Tommy Lee Jones to go get some payback.  Great little movie and ahead of its time before First Blood portraying Vietnam vets and the trouble they went through when returning from the war.

I stumbled upon the pilot of this show last summer and was really impressed and stuck with it through the whole season since A&E is a network that will not cancel a show after 3 episodes.  This is a great drama about Wyoming Sheriff Walt Longmire, his deputies, and an Indian friend who encounter a new case every week.  It also involves a running story about Walt and his murdered wife and we keep getting bits of information about this every week.  Good stuff and season 2 started this past week and is on Mondays.

A movie from the late 90s from director Richard Linklater about a group of bank robbing brothers from the 1920s.  Great cast here in Matthew McConaughey, Ethan Hawke, Vincent D'Onofrio, and Dwight Yoakam.

R.I.P. Ray Manzarek 1939-2013

Founding member and keyboardist of The Doors.  I had to bust out some Doors CDs today and just sit back, listen, and enjoy.  Enjoyed Riders on the Storm during stormy weather today.  Great stuff.  This guy was a fantastic artist.  You will be missed.
