Movie Poster Monday- Homefront

New Release Tuesday

This flick had many problems and had been sitting on the shelf for over a year.  They did some re-writes and re-shoots and actually were able to salvage this thing. I hear Brad Pitt's hair is awesome in this and that is reason enough for any bald guy to want to check this out.

This is not my favorite zombie movie nor is it my least favorite but this was a fitting third film for what we all thought was Romero' trilogy at the time.  This was made in 1985 and this still features the best zombie make-up and practical effects, no CGI here.  This is from Scream Factory so it will look and sound great plus be loaded with plenty of extras.  The cover art Scream did for this release is the best of the year.

When this show was announced I was thrilled that Norman Bates was being brought back.  The character has been away far too long and I think TV is the perfect way to bring him back to horror audiences.  When I found out the show is set in the present day I was cautiously optimistic bit after episode one I was hooked.  Mother Bates played by Vera Farmiga steals the show and is fantastic as a nurturing mother and then can become totally psycho in seconds.  Great show and look froward to season 2 next spring.

Mrs. Gauntlet watched this and really loved it and I enjoyed the parts I saw too.  Connie Britton is great in anything so I may have to get caught up on this soon.

Movie Poster Saturday- Where Eagles Dare

New Release last Tuesday

I apologize for the lateness for this. College football, Ranger baseball, soccer games, Friday the 13th movies and sleep have been affecting me.  Here it goes, enjoy:

Paramount and New Line bring us what they are calling the complete collection but this still leaves a Jason fan wanting more.  It includes all the movies including Freddy vs. Jason and the 2009 reboot.  Extras seem a little slim for this set and we are offered the uncut of the original but what about the uncut editions of parts 2 and 7?  I watched part 5 the other night and they could go back and remove some of the cropping on that too.  Any way it is cool to have all of these movies in one set finally.

This is a good looking documentary that covers every one of the Friday the 13th movies.  Narrated by Corey Feldmen(Parts 4 and 5) and it is over 400 minutes long so it should be quite comprehensive.

I have only seen the original Scanners with Michael Ironside and all his greatness but since this is from Scream Factory this will be a look see in the near future.  Exploding heads are always cool.

J.J. Abrams took his time with getting this sequel out and that is ok since they actually turned out a good story here.  What does tick me off about this was the blatant lies from the Abrams camp about this being a new story and villain.  I always try to be spoiler free here but everyone's favorite old Star Trek movie sequel is borrowed from quite a bit here.  Rant over, still a good flick and Peter Weller sure was great in this.

A descent Brian De Palma movie starring Nick Cage playing a great dirt bag in this.  The opening shot 22 minute continuous shot in this is really awesome.  This movie also introduced us to the greatness of Carla Gugino who is always easy on the eyes:
