Scream Factory Presents: John Carpenter's Escape from LA

Scream Factory has announces plans to release an all-new definitive collector’s edition of John Carpenter’s 1996 sequel “Escape from L.A.” on April 28th. Scream Factory is reportedly trying to make this a new transfer of the film along with packing the set with extras. Kurt Russell’s Snake Plissken returns in this sequel in which he must wade through L.A., which is now a prison, to retrieve a doomsday device for the President.

This is no where near as good as the original but back in the day this was incredible news that Carpenter and Russell were bringing this iconic character back to the big screen.  I am glad Scream Factory is doing this because the existing blu ray is bare bones and we should get some good extras on this and hopefully a doc on why the budget was cut severely right before production started and this is why the special effects in this look a little shoddy.  I already ordered mine and you can get yours here: https://www.shoutfactory.com/product/escape-from-l-a-collector-s-edition?product_id=7340

Chuck Norris is Back!

I have been wanting to type here for a long time that Chuck is back on some sort of screen, kicking butt, so here it is.  Do not get too excited.  Chuck is back spin kicking snacks at you from Quick Trip.  Chuck will now assist you in defeating hunger pains by making you devour things like taquitos, hot dogs, pizza, etc.  I wish they would have renamed some of the menu items like Walker, Texas Ranger Taquitos, Delta Force Dogs, or Lone Wolf McQuade Quickeshakes, but oh well.  I will admit QT Breakfast Pizza and Burritos are not bad.  Go to a QT now to out check Chuck in action on the screen over the QT kitchen.   And if you don’t, Chuck is gonna give you many rights you will be begging for a left.

Your Friends May Not Always Be There for You

I see that lots of people are very angry that Netflix does not have Friends anymore.  Universal TV did not renew with Netflix so they can put it on the new Peacock streaming service that starts sometime this year.  So right now you cannot watch Friends anywhere except for occasional episodes on TBS.  If you have the DVD or Blu Ray sets you can watch them anytime and do not have to pay anything again for something you have already bought.

With all these streaming services we are at their mercy so it may be time to get acquainted with your physical media again so you are not paying a subscription fee to every service out there, that can get quite pricey.  I am already planning to turn off Disney+ in a few days because I watched The Madalorian and the few others things I wanted to on there.  I have all the Marvel and Stars Wars stuff on blu already plus they will look and sound better on disc compared to streaming anyway and they will be unedited like Lucas did to A New Hope, again.  I will go back to it at some point.  So the lesson here is if you subscribe to a service for a particular show or movies they may not always have them.  But you can own them on disc so do not get rid of all your discs and pick up some stuff now before it may be out of print.

By the way, the Friends box sets are back in stock on Amazon after being sold out all last week.  Also, I am NOT a fan of this show I just thought it presented a good lesson on the future of streaming services.  Keep spinning those discs!
