New Release Tuesdays

I will blame yard mowing and baseball season for the delays here.  Onward:

I was blown away on how good this was.  A very good action movie with a fantastic who did plot.  Also features one of  the best car chases I have seen a while.  The bonuses on here are the great Robert Duvall has a part in this and director Werner Herzog is the bad guy.  Brilliant!  Is it me or does Crusies' head look a little odd on this poster?

Guillermo Del Toro produced this creepy little horror flick about some kids left on their own in the forest for a few years.

Warner Brothers has got to get the Superman machine going for the release of Man of Steel next month.  DC's animated features have been outstanding and this one is quite good as Superman must save Earth as Brainiac sets out to destroy it.

I am a sucker for courtroom dramas and this was director Sidney Lumet's (12 Angry Men)  specialty.  Paul Newman plays a drunk lawyer trying to right some wrongs in a negligence case and is fantastic
in this. Highly recommended.

Local boy director Shane Carruth finally follows up his fantastic, complex first feature Primer with this.  I am still trying to figure out Primer and reading the synopsis on this already has my head hurting.  Read some reviews on this when it debuted and the guy filmed much of this is his house which could have been right up the street from me.  Defiantly look forward to checking this out.

From brother and sister directors The Wachowski's (It sounded so much better when it was the Brothers Wachowski) comes a movie that totally bombed at the box office yet receives quite a bit of good reception from critics and fans.  Tom Hanks used to be can't miss but he has been missing some lately.  Also stars crazy Halle Berry.

I applaud Lionsgate for picking up the rights to this beloved franchise.  It really needed a shot in the arm and this was the right way to do it.  I loved the premise here of going with a direct sequel of the original and even showing clips of it to start the movie.  That was great and having Bill Moseley as Drayton Sawyer and Gunnar Hansen in the beginning was awesome!  Then we flash forward to the present day, huh?  So Leatherface is in his 60s?  Oh well, if Rambo can still whoop ass in his 60s so can Leatherface.  Not a bad little horror flick and I definitely look forward to more.  I disliked that this was not filmed in Texas and the lead actresses in this were disgustingly skinny.  I like to eat ribs not count them underneath tiny shirts.  Also, look for some Clint Eastwood offspring here.
