New Release Tuesday

Minions Stuart, Kevin and Bob are recruited by Scarlet Overkill, a super-villain who, alongside her inventor husband Herb, hatches a plot to take over the world.  I missed this one in the theater because the small people in my house saw it with others.  Is it as good without Gru?

Armed with a super-suit with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, cat burglar Scott Lang must embrace his inner hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym, plan and pull off a heist that will save the world.  When this was announced I felt like this would be Marvel’s first misstep with their movies.  That and I was ticked director Edgar Wright left (or was forced off) the project.  This movie was the big surprise of the summer for me and it is so much better than it was supposed to be.  Our super hero is centimeters tall (or smaller) so this movie needed a little more humor to be accepted and it works.  Be sure to check this out.  Scored the steelbook at BB.

Two FBI agents, Fox Mulder the believer and Dana Scully the skeptic, investigate the strange and unexplained while hidden forces work to impede their efforts. This was a really great show especially in the middle of its run.   This also comes out in separate season sets so I will need to pick this up someday.  I cannot wait for its return to TV in January.  The truth is still out there.

When DEA agents are taken captive by a ruthless South American kingpin, Chuck and the Delta Force are reunited to rescue them.  It is so nice to see all these Chuck movies coming to blu ray and we get some good stuff next year too.  This features a great Chuck fight sequence (I know that is not a surprise) with great teacher-student lines. Chuck is getting whipped on and then he grabs the guy and says, “My turn to teach.”  Great stuff.  Fantastic cover art!

No Statham, no watch.

An officially "dead" cop is trained to become an extraordinarily unique assassin in service of the US president.  This was a fun movie back in the day and this was supposed to be a franchise but low box office kept it to a one shot deal.  Where’s the blu ray?
