New Release Last Tuesday

The battle continues here at home as I just learned I will being doing this thru at least the end of May.  I am fine with it but I do miss my office mates, friends, and just going places.  I only get out for groceries and then just to QuickTrip for a drink and a snack just to get out.  Some pretty good stuff came out last week but media shipments are non-essential so I do not have any of the new releases I was wanting yet.  Mr. Amazon will get around to them sometime, let's see what they are:

Tin Cup- A washed up golf pro working at a driving range tries to qualify for the US Open in order to win the heart of his successful rival's girlfriend.  I have been waiting a long time for this sports comedy to come out on blu so thanks Warner Archive.  This is one of Costner’s best movies and Rene Russo is great too.  If you are not into golf do not let that stop you from watching this, highly recommended.

Eye See You- A lead detective being stalked by a serial killer is asked to check into a clinic treating law enforcement officials who can't face their jobs.  Sly made this flick as part of a 3-picture deal with Universal.  Daylight was first, then this, and then the third one never happened. Eye See You was know as Detox at the time and sat on the shelf a long time before it came out at a handful of theaters and then was a Blockbuster Video exclusive release with its new title.  This is not a bad mystery flick, something new for Sly and it is almost a horror movie with a Seven kind of vibe to it.  It gets a little messy in the final act but it is still worth a watch and has a killer supporting cast in it.  The gold on this disc is it also features the director’s cut of the movie although it’s in VHS quality.   It may be good considering all the infighting this movie seemed to have had going on and being shelfed for so long.  I am interested in checking this out.

Destry Rides Again- When a tough western town needs taming, the mild-mannered son of a hard-nosed sheriff gets the job.  I love this old western and was really glad Criterion announced this classic title.  This movie was a first of it kind back in the day as the female is the tough guy of the movie and Jimmy Stewart is just kind of himself here.  This is a great watch if you like really old westerns.

Gutter Balls- A bowling night will turn into a bloody death match for a team of teenagers, as a deranged serial killer is taking them down one by one.  I have never seen this but this horror flick has quite to cult status.

Captain Kronos- A master swordsman and former soldier and his hunchbacked assistant hunt vampires.  This is one of those movies that has been getting a lot of love this last few years so I may jump on the bandwagon and finally watch it.

I think you should jump on the bandwagon and check out Captain Kronos: Vampire Hunter. It's an excellent film and very, very different.
