Ice Ice Baby

When you live in the DFW area you get snow occasionally but when a winter storm hits we get ice and lots of it.  Schools are closed so I am working from home as Mrs. Gauntlet and the kids are playing in the ice outside.  Working from home on occasion is nice.  What should I do?

MGM is releasing a brand new sparkling edition of 1987’s Robocop to blu ray in January to get us prepped for the new underwhelming looking, unnecessary Robocop remake in February.  Now the best part that has been confirmed of this release is that it is the director’s cut of the film.  I have not seen this since it existed on Criterion laser disc.  The ED-209 really gets to show off it s shooting ability a little more in this edition.  I would definitely buy this for a dollar!

New Release Tuesday

I was on vacation the week this came out in theaters and the mediocre reviews it scored just made me want to wait for the blu ray release.  This has to be better than the last Wolverine stand alone movie.  Now Fox has created and an unrated extended cut of this movie, great!  But if you want it you have to buy the bigger package with the 3D version of the film.  But the 3D version is not the extended cut and the extended cut does not have any special features except the audio commentary.  And it has a vudu digital copy.   Who needs or really wants that?  Any ways mark this down as the most disorganized release of the year.

I have never seen a Robert Altman movie, never.  Went down the entire list of his work and could not claim one title.  This is the one title that besides M.A.S.H. that I always hear good things about and Criterion just released this snappy new blu ray version.   May snag this next time B&N has a Criterion sale.

This is Chuck vs. Ninjas.  That is all you need to know and by that you should already know who wins as well.  Also stars the late, great Lee Van Cleef.  Come on!  Give us Invasion USA on blu now!

Scream Factory brings us this horror sci-fi cult classic with Kirk Douglas, Harvey Keitel, and the late, great Farrah Fawcett. Farrah and Kirk are two scientists (and lovers) living in an astronaut field by Saturn.  Company shows up in a dubbed Harvey Keitel and his pet robot.  I have always loved this poster.

Hell on Wheels Renewed!

AMC has renewed their awesome western Hell on Wheels for a fourth season.  Season three was the best the show has had so far even if the season finale left a little to be desired.  AMC moved the show to Saturday nights which is usually a death sentence for TV shows but viewership actually increased this past season.  So bring on season four: Escape from the Mormons!

I had a blast with this made for TV movie (ABC I believe) as this appeared to be a pilot for a wanna be A-Team series.  I recorded this when it aired and had the tape available for awhile but time has made me forgot the plot besides the point that these guys and one girl had a plane, a cool truck, and uzi's. 

From IMDB: Captain Blair Morgan is a military intelligence man, who wants to see some action, and if the military can't provide with some, he is recruited by a group that wants to form a crime fighting unit that they want to send into areas that are ill equipped or manned to handle certain criminals. He selects Jack Coburn, Nick Kowalski, J.D. Smith, and Chris Winslow, cops who are deemed loose cannons by their respective departments. But whose unorthodox behavior and methods, Morgan feels is necessary to combat the types of criminals that they are going to go up against.

John Matuszak played Nick who was the big tough guy ala Mr. T but also had an artistic side as I remember him sketching the town from a plane above so the team had a layout of the place before going on their mission.  

Research on this title on IMDB, YouTube, and Amazon does not yield any results as far as availability of this forgotten little TV movie so I guess what's in my noggin is what will live on.
