This is the new Coen Brothers movie about a week in the life
of a young folk singer as he navigates the Greenwich Village folk scene of
1961. A new movie from Joel and Ethan is
always an event for me as I love watching the way they spin a story and they
are always worth a re-watch for all the things I missed the first time. The word is the movie was bypassed for many
Oscar nominations because it just did not have much box office pull but this
surely will fit right along with the rest of the Coen classics. This features a great soundtrack as well,
highly recommended.
Jason Statham stars as a former DEA agent that moves his
family to a quiet town, where he soon tangles with a local meth drug lord. Here we have a great action star in Statham,
a screen play form Sly Stallone, and a bad guy that everyone hates in James
Franco so this should be really good.
A man mysteriously disappears and law enforcement doesn't
follow through fast enough, his older brother takes matters into his own hands
to find justice. This movie came and
went quickly without much fanfare but it has a stellar cast with Bale and
Harrelson leading the way.
Hired gunman Cole Thornton turns down a job with Bart Jason
as it would mean having to fight an old sheriff friend. Some months later he
finds out the lawman is a drunk and a top gunfighter is heading his way to help
Jason. Along with young Mississippi, a knife guy who also sports a Mad Max
shotgun, Cole returns to help. One of
John Wayne’s great films as this was director Howard Hawks’ first remake of Rio
Bravo also starring The Duke.
