New Release Tuesday

This was a great, intense, gritty war movie about a Navy Seal team set out on a mission to capture or kill notorious Taliban leader Ahmad Shah, in late June 2005. The team is left to fight for their lives in one of the most valiant efforts of modern warfare.  Fans are pretty split on this movie as the politics of the situation seem to interfere with their objective to sit down and enjoy a movie that is based on a true event.  Key word there being “based” which means some of this is true but most of it is not and we have given this the Hollywood treatment.  Highly Recommended.  Get this cool steelbook at Target but use cash so your credit card info will not be stolen.

Remakes and Reboots are the rage of late and I am cool with that, mostly.  But why take a classic like Paul Verhoeven’s Robocop and dumb it down and make it PG-13?  This production was doomed from the start as most, no let’s say all movie fans declared a Robobop remake unnecessary, especially if it is PG-13.  The original Robocop was and still is a violent, action masterpiece, why deviate from that?  Any way MGM pressed on and really stacked up the cast with Michael Keaton, Jackie Earle Haley, Gary Oldman, and Samuel L. Jackson or was that Laurence Fishburne?  Anyway the cast was great except for Robocop himself.  Joel Kinnamman is no Peter Weller as his Robocop is not very memorable and is very stiff in the suit.  Weller had great movements and a very cool way to walk in the suit (I did this walk in the hall ways in high school) as this new dude really is the tin man.  I also do not care for the look of the new Robocop either.  Why did he have to look like Batman?  He should have kept the silver look.  Now this movie is not as bad as advertised but it is very hollow compared to the old one with zero sarcasm which is what made the original Robocop so good.  Worth a rental, creep.  Also, why no unrated cut for blu ray?

A very popular western series from the 60s about a cattle drive that ran into new escapades every week.  For the final season the second in command is the now the head ramrod.  Still need to check and see if this actor did any more work after the show, his name is no where on the cover here.
