New Release Tuesday

The USS Enterprise crew explores the furthest reaches of uncharted space, where they encounter a new ruthless enemy who puts them and everything the Federation stands for to the test.  I meant to go see this at the theater but this and Suicide Squad just did not work out this summer.  It will be interesting to see how much this will be like the Fast and Furious.  It is also nice to hear Paramount has already announced the next movie is in the works as Kirk runs into THOR in this next chapter.  Scored the steelbook at Best Buy.

Batman and Robin are back in action to take down their fiendish foes once again with original actors Adam West voicing Batman, Burt Ward voicing Robin, and Julie Newmar voicing Catwoman.  I caught this at a Fandango event and it was a lot of fun.  I have been working on the Batman ’66 set since it came out two years ago and I am half way through it so this came out at a perfect time to mix this new in with the old.  Scored the steelbook at Target.

Doc and the Amazing Five battle Captain Seas and "the green death" for control of a fabulous resource.  I remember this being on TV at my grandparents’ house on the Sunday morning movie and I saw it a few times then and I recall it being pretty cool. Warner Archive is putting this out on blu to stir up interest since Director Shane Black has lined this up as his next project after The Predator and The Rock is onboard to cook for it.  I am picking this up for pure nostalgia.

A quiet man's peaceful suburban lifestyle is threatened by the new, obnoxious couple that moves in next door. This may not be the best movie Akroyd and Belushi did but it was their last together so it’s always nice to watch how they wrapped things up.  Akroyd and Belushi switched roles a couple of weeks before production and tried their best to get the director to leave or get replaced and begged Blues Brothers director John Landis to come onboard but he declined their request in respect to the Oscar winning director of Rocky, John G. Avildson.

This was a great Western series and finished its run at just the right time and had a really nice ending.  I suppose it will be awhile before we have another like this one the air waves.
