New Release Tuesday

Kingsman: The Golden Circle- When their headquarters are destroyed and the world is held hostage, the Kingsman's journey leads them to the discovery of an allied spy organization in the US. These two elite secret organizations must band together to defeat a common enemy.  I have not seen the first one still bit I am going to rectify that soon.

Detroit- Fact-based drama set during the 1967 Detroit riots in which a group of rogue police officers respond to a complaint with retribution rather than justice on their minds.  A good looking drama from the director of Near Dark.  And its got Finn in it!

Election- A high school teacher's personal life becomes complicated as he works with students during the school elections, particularly with an obsessive overachiever determined to become student body president.  This is such a good flick and I am glad it is getting the Criterion makeover.  Reese is so good in this movie.

Code of Silence- A Chicago cop is caught in a middle of a gang war while his own comrades shun him because he wants to take an irresponsible cop down.  This is hands down Chuck’s best movie, not my favorite, but it is technically his best.  It has a great director in Andrew Davis (The Fugitive, Under Seige) and a really nice supporting cast that lets Chuck stretch himself as an actor.  And oh yeah, he gets to kick some butt too.  I was personally told by the great Rupert Pupkin Speaks (http://www.rupertpupkinspeaks.com/) himself that this is worthy of the upgrade so maybe Santa will bring it.

Brannigan-  Chicago police lieutenant Jim Brannigan is sent to the UK to escort organized crime boss Ben Larkin back to the USA but Larkin's hit-men prepare an ambush for Brannigan.  The Duke tried his hand at a couple of action movies very late in his career and McQ was pretty good but this one was mediocre at best.  This was the Duke’s third to last movie before he hung up his spurs.

Once Upon A Time at Christmas- Santa and Mrs. Clause go on a killing spree in Woodbridge, 12 days prior to Christmas.  There has been a lot of Christmas horror coming out the last few years and I like most of it but this one I am not so sure about because I have not heard anything about it and the reviews on amazon are for a Christmas concert CD.  Will see if this is streaming somewhere soon.

Cocaine Wars- When this came out the kick ass movie poster with Bo Duke sold the movie to me.  I do not remember if it played theatrically but I remember renting the VHS and discovered it was quite a turd.  Yet this poster art is still kicks ass and I want to get it on DVD and watch to see just how bad it was.
