Den of
Thieves- A gritty
crime saga which follows the lives of an elite unit of the LA County Sheriff's
Dept. and the state's most successful bank robbery crew as the outlaws plan a
seemingly impossible heist on the Federal Reserve Bank. This is a good, manly action movie that did
so-so business at the box office but has a sequel in the works already. Reminds
me of Michael Mann’s excellent Heat and that is a good thing.
Hostiles- In 1892, a legendary Army captain
reluctantly agrees to escort a Cheyenne chief and his family through dangerous
territory. I love me a good Western and
this looks worthy of a watch. I liked
Bale in the 3:10 to Yuma remake and I loved playing Cowboys and Indians as a
kid.
Dead Man- On the run after murdering a man,
accountant William Blake encounters a strange North American man named Nobody
who prepares him for his journey into the spiritual world. I saw this on laser disc when it was first
released and I have not seen it since
but I remember it being quite a solid Western.
If definitely deserves another spin soon.
