The Alamo Drafthouse will be showing Unforgiven for its 25th anniversary next week. When it comes to the Oscars these days I do not put much stock in them because it is all about politics and not who or what was best at movies on the big screen the previous year. 1992 was one of the years where the academy got it right when it came to Eastwood's classic Unforgiven. I saw this several times in the summer of '92, at least two times during it's Oscar re-release, and who knows how many times on VHS, laser disc, DVD, and blu ray since then. It is a great story about escaping the past and the consequences that come with pulling a trigger. So grab your Spencer rifle and meet me at the Alamo next week.
