Doctor Sleep- Years following the
events of "The Shining," a now-adult Dan Torrance must protect a
young girl with similar powers from a cult known as The True Knot, who prey on
children with powers to remain immortal.
I have always considered The Shining a good movie but not great like many
people do during October when people are picking their favorite horror movies. It is not scary at all, it’s more psychological
to me and would rather watch The Shining or Halloween with a group of buddies? Case closed.
Everything I have read and heard indicates this was a worthy sequel but
the box office was a little soft on this because it is two and a half hours long,
way long for a horror movie. I am still
eager to give this a spin and check out the original cut first then go for the three-hour
long director’s cut later.
The House that Jack Built- The
story follows Jack, a highly intelligent serial killer, over the course of
twelve years, and depicts the murders that really develop his inner madman. I am not sure about this one. The run time on this is two hour and thirty-two
minutes. See movie above about long run
times for horror flicks.
Evil Ed- A mild-mannered film
editor is assigned to cut a series of infamous slasher films and is driven
murderously insane by the miles of extremely violent footage he edits. This is one of those movies I have always
heard of but I think this has been out of print for a while. Arrow has been killing it lately so this is
probably a solid pick up.
Playing with Fire- A crew of
rugged firefighters meet their match when attempting to rescue three
rambunctious kids. Looks John Cena got
caught up in the mess The Rock got trapped in there for a bit when did his
kiddie movies back in the day. I think
Cena is better than this so hopefully he sticks with action flicks after this job
mistake.
