New Release Last Tuesday

The War- An emotionally fractured Vietnam vet returns to his family in rural Mississippi, counseling his kids when they have to fight their own neighborhood battle. This is a Costner move that got overlooked and even I missed it back in the day.  I will need to spin this some day.

Slithis- A nuclear leak creates a mutant Slithis sea monster, which terrorizes the variety of pets, winos, and hippies who hang around Venice, California. I have never seen this but man they can dig up some crap and make it look really good in hi-def.  This might be decent so do not shake it off just yet.

The Cowboy Way- As they visit New York City, a pair of cowboys have to become unlikely heroes when their friend is kidnapped.  I have not seen this in a long time, but I recall it was a pretty good action comedy and Woody steals the show.

Breach- FBI upstart Eric O'Neill enters into a power game with his boss, Robert Hanssen, an agent who was put on trial for selling secrets to the Soviet Union. This is a great FBI thriller and Laura Linney makes anything good.

Archenemy- Max Fist claims to be a hero from another dimension who fell through time and space to earth, where he has no powers. No one believes his stories except for a local teen named Hamster. So Manganiello finally gets a superhero movie besides a baddie role.  This looks good and I am debating whether to pick it up or rent it.   Mandy and Color Out of Space rocked so this might too.

Movie Poster Monday- The Abominable Snowman of the Himalayas

New Release Last Tuesday

Freaky- After swapping bodies with a deranged serial killer, a young girl in high school discovers she has less than 24 hours before the change becomes permanent.  I have heard nothing but good things about this movie.  Vince Vaughn playing a teenage girl looks like a lot of fun.  I actually picked this up last week before snowmegeddon hit.

Greenland- A family struggles for survival in the face of a cataclysmic natural disaster.  It’s been awhile since the planet has been threatened by an asteroid and this looks to be a different take on it instead of becoming an astronaut and flying up to blow it up.

Devil’s Express- A tough black martial artist cop takes on warring street gangs and an evil demon that haunts the New York City subways.  I have never heard of Warhawk Tanzania but he sure looks cool.

Gym Mistakes

New Release Tuesdays

There has been some good things come out the last couple of weeks worth picking up.  Let's take a gander:

Batman: Soul of the Dragon- In the 1970s, a missing teacher of martial arts is the subject of a quest by his devoted and brilliant but distant students, who include Batman. This movie is great, the best WB animated in awhile.  This is a James Bond/Bruce Lee movie that also happens to have Batman in it as well.  It takes place in the 70s so the style and the music in this is really good.

Fatman- A rowdy, unorthodox Santa Claus is fighting to save his declining business. Meanwhile, Billy, a neglected and precocious 12 year old, hires a hit man to kill Santa after receiving a lump of coal in his stocking.  I rented this during Christmas and enjoyed it a lot.  I do not care who or what Mel Gibson is about because Hollywood stars live in a different world then me so it does not matter.  Sit back and enjoy this, he is really good in it.  Bring on Lethal Weapon 5!

AGFA Horror Trailer Show- I miss the Alamo Drafthouse.  It is still temporarily closed here but the longer it stays closed it may remain that way but I hope it comes back.  This is a compilation disc with trailers that play before the movie starts at The Alamo.  I picked this up to support the cause.

Let Him Go- A retired sheriff and his wife, grieving over the death of their son, set out to find their only grandson. I still like Costner's movies and I am glad Yellowstone is so popular to give him a bit of a comeback.  These two were great in Man of Steel so it will be good to see them in something else together.

Shin Godzilla- Japan is plunged into chaos upon the appearance of a giant monster. Japan has been getting dumped on by all these monsters over the years.  Glad they keep rebuilding.

The Great Alligator- Tourists on a tropical island anger an island god, who turns himself into a giant alligator and stalks them.  Alligator movies were the craze in the late 70s and I have not seen this Italian version before.

Foo Fighters: Medicine at Midnight- My favorite band has a new album out today so they get included today too.
