Clint Makes Romney's Day

Movie Poster Wednesday

RIP Tony Scott

New Release Tuesday

A couple of the best shows on TV, classic comedy, and the summer's biggest dud highlight this week's release:

Season 4 of Sons of Anarchy had the show return to its roots and had the conflict of Jax and Clay go even deeper and got to a point of no return for this step father and son.  Samcro just spent 14 months in the pen and when the gang returns to the hometown of Charming things have changed.  Alot.  There is a new Sheriff in town and he will not put up with this gang and their is also a special government investigator out there getting the goods on SAMCRO.  Yeah  SAMCRO deals arms but now Clay has them dealing drugs for a Mexican cartel to make some retirement bucks.  Clay gets a little selfish and scared so he goes after Jax personally and things get uglier as the season roles on.  Highly recommended.  Season 5 starts on September 11!

I really enjoy the Walking Dead as I like how the show is a drama placed in a world being over taken by zombies.  Brilliant!  Season 2 comes out and this is the Special Edition pictured above.  Man that is a great package!  The head lifts up and the set is in there.  I really wanted to bring this home but at Best Buy the box was enormous and Mrs. Gauntlet probably would not like it anyway seeing as I am running out of storage space for my flicks any way.  Wonder if the screw driver comes out?

Universal continues their 100 Year Celebration and finally releases this comedy classic as Abbot Costello meet up with the Classic Universal Monsters and the legendary actors that played them.

This movie looks like another excuse to make a Transformers flick and that is ok because I do like to check in my brain from time to time and just kick back and enjoy the show.  I trust director Peter Berg and expect half the cast from Friday Night Lights to appear on here so it should be a good time.  I do not know anything about Rihanna besides that she is a singer and from what I read she needs to stick to that and stay off the big screen as every time she appears it gets downright laughable.

The Last Stand- Arnold's Back!

Movie Poster Wednesday-Trouble with the Curve

New Release Tuesday

One of the greatest movies of all time finally gets some blu ray love.  Apparently the transfer on this is pristine so can't wait to pop this in the PS3 this weekend.  If you do not know what this is about then just go sit back and enjoy one of the greatest things you'll ever see.  My favorite part of this movie is Quint's (Robert Shaw) Indianapolis monologue in the middle of the flick.  Be sure to watch the making of extras because the making of this movie is just as good as the movie itself.  "That's one bad hat Harry."

Great 70s action flick.  That Shaft is one bad mother...SHUT YOUR MOUTH!!!  Features one of the greatest soundtracks ever from the late great Isaac Hayes.

I have tried not to read much into this flick but I hear it is one hard core action movie.

New Release Tuesday

I'm back from a mountainous vacation and feeling somewhat refreshed since I was able to escape the Texas heat and enjoy the Colorado cool air.  Any way here is some of today's new stuff and some I missed while I was out:

I absolutely love this movie!  This was my favorite flick of 1997.  John Cusack plays a professional assassin (or dies he sell biscuits at KFC?)  who wonders back to his hometown to do a job and also attend his ten year high school reunion.  Things get a little tricky when he runs into an old flame and the job also becomes complicated.  The scene when Cusack is holding the baby with Queen playing in the background is priceless.  Dan Akroyd also stars as a competing assassin.  The highest of recommendations.

I remember seeing this little horror gem with an older friend at the theater in 1981.  Some people open a closed well and find some new friends waiting for them.  Nice little low budget flick.  I recall a really cool first person or monster camera angle here.

The last good movie Mel Brooks made?  Possibly.  A really good Stars Wars spoof as Brooks, Moranis, and the late John Candy steal the show here.  "I see your Schwartz is bigger than mine."

A great one here as we have Sean Connery vs. Peter Boyle.  There are miners on a moon of Jupiter that are given drugs that make them productive workers for while but then they start going a little psycho.  Connery plays the station sheriff trying to figure out what is going on while being strong armed by the company man Boyle.  This is basically High Noon in space.  Nice job by Warner Brothers here as the previous DVD was about unwatchable

The late great Patrick Swayze plays a city cop that grew up in the country as his family gets tangled up with the city mob bosses.  Not a bad little action flick and also stars Liam Neeson with a very strange accent in this one.

I have read good things about this little horror flick so I am going to give it a spin.  I am guessing this is about a guy that is out to collect extra fees when someone withdraws cash at an ATM.
