Breezy at the Alamo Tonight!

Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would be able to see this obscure movie directed by Eastwood on the big screen.  But low and behold it is showing tonight at the Alamo as part of Paul Thomas Anderson's series of movies that influenced his newest release Licorice Pizza.  Clint does Hitchcock on this one and has two cameos, if you have seen this have you spotted them?  Anyway come join me tonight as I get to check off an Eastwood movie I never thought I would get to see at the theater.

New Release Tuesday

I hope you all had a happy holiday.  Things were different around here but it was great and a blessing to be with most of our family this year as last year the four of us were quarantined for Christmas.  I go into this year with the slogan 'It Cannot be any worst than last year' so hopefully that rings true.  Physical continues its decline but it will be around for awhile still.  It will always be a niche market for the upcoming future.  I enjoyed reading comments on social media this Christmas season about things like why is Elf only on this channel?  Where can I watch Christmas Vacation?  Is Charlie Brown only on Apple+?  Keep your discs and you can watch them whenever and wherever you want to.  Rant over, let's take a look a few of this week's worthy titles:

Halloween Kills- The saga of Michael Myers and Laurie Strode continues in the next thrilling chapter of the Halloween series.  Wow, the horror crowd is really divided on this one.  I enjoyed it a lot and the mob mentality and the slogan “Evil Dies Tonight” reminded me of Frankenstein movies where people had to man up and take care of the monster.  It was nice seeing some of the original cast come back for this and the soundtrack by John Carpenter and his band is excellent.  And that flashback scene was amazing.  Recommended.

Dune- Feature adaptation of Frank Herbert's science fiction novel about the son of a noble family entrusted with the protection of the most valuable asset and most vital element in the galaxy.  I never cared for David Lynch’s version and I have never read the books but I love Denis Villeneuve’s work so far so I am going to give this one a shot with an open mind.

Breaking In- Professional thief Enie takes Mike on as an apprentice, but while Mike clearly has "larceny in his heart", it will take him a long time to get as good as Ernie.  This is one of those Burt Reynolds movies I never got around to and has been remembered as one of his better movies later in his career.  I will have to get around to this one now.
