A New Expendables Shot

August cannot get here quick enough.

New Release Tuesday

Tom Cruise needs a hit so he jumped back in the Mission Impossible franchise to kick start his career again.  Word seems to be that this one is pretty good but I am most excited about seeing this for animation director Brad Bird.

How many movies did Michael Fassbender do last year?  How many this year?  I think the dude is real good after his showing in Inglorious Bastards and X-Men: Origins.  This is a story about a guy with an addiction and when his sister shows up to live with him for awhile he is forced to re access his life.

The Rangers are an AL best 11-3 and have been lead by starting pitching but the offense has been coming alive the last few days.  So far the boys are undefeated on the road.  Big series at Detroit this weekend, a place they have never played well.

Not much TV watching going on since Justified wrapped up.  I need to get back on Dexter soon.

Avenger Awesomeness!

What if Sly did this...

The Bandit Did All of This. Ain't He Great!

As part of its 100th Anniversary this year, Universal Studios Home Entertainment will offer special re-issues of selected catalog titles, and the Smokey and the Bandit Blu-ray will arrive in the June wave. Burt Reynolds stars in director Hal Needham's action-comedy as the Bandit, a daredevil truck driver who accepts a near-impossible challenge - he must transport 400 cases of beer from Texarkana to Atlanta in just twenty-eight hours.

Along with his best friend and fellow driver Cledus (Jerry Reed), Bandit tears across the country, drawing the attentions of both a spirited runaway bride (Sally Field) and the speed-hating lawman Sheriff Buford T. Justice (Jackie Gleason)
Universal's Blu-ray/DVD/Digital Copy combo pack presents the film in its 1.85:1 original aspect ratio with a 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio track. The disc also contains the following bonus supplements:
  • Loaded Up and Truckin': Making Smokey and the Bandit behind-the-scenes featurette
  • Snowman, What's Your 20? - The Smokey and the Bandit CB Tutorial
  • Two 100 Years of Universal featurettes:
  • - The Lot - The '70s
This greatness gets released June 5.

New Release Tuesday

I am returning from a Spring Break and look forward to jumping right back into this thing.  My job, the awesome Texas weather, and the start of baseball season has had me busy of late but the show must go on.  It's that slow time for new releases and I am working on my best of 2011 list that should be concluded next week with the release of Shame and Mission Impossible 4 to give them the opportunity to be included.  On with it...

I have always liked Meryl Streep and it seems most other people do too since she has been nominated so many times that Steve Martin claimed she had the record for most losses at the Oscars.  This role does not have me very interested as her Margaret Thatcher impersonation seems alot like her Julia Child one from recently.

I am in no way a Dark Shadows fan at all but do find it impressive the vampire soap opera lasted over 1200 episodes and a few movies back in the day.  Now that director Tim Burton and Johnny Depp have their version coming out soon interest is picking up the old version.  Be ready to shell out over $500 bucks for this version with every episode and a really cool box.

FX's Justified finished up yesterday and I will miss my favorite show until January.  Raylan came out unscathed and brought down Quarrels and finally got Boyd.  For a very short while.  Nice twist at the end of the show with Arlo.  Did he really kill Trooper Tom?  Or was Quarrels screwing with Raylan one last time?  It took me awhile to catch this but loved how Raylan gave Quarrels back his own gun to implicate him in the killing of Winona's ex-husband Gary.   Raylan and Limehouse sure did a nice job of disarming Mr. Carpetbagger.
