In the near future, crime is patrolled by a mechanized police force.
When one police droid, Chappie, is stolen and given new programming, he
becomes the first robot with the ability to think and feel for himself. I have not see this yet but it looks like Robocop but just full on robot. I have enjoyed director Neil Blomkamp's stuff so far so I hope this is on par with the rest of his work. Scored the steelbook at Target.
Mobster and hit man Jimmy Conlon has one night to figure out where his
loyalties lie: with his estranged son, Mike, whose life is in danger, or
his longtime best friend, mob boss Shawn Maguire, who wants Mike to pay
for the death of his own son. This has action man Liam Neeson and a stellar cast so this should be good.
Oh yeah, some classic Chuck. Chuck plays Sean Kane as he is forced to resign from the San Francisco Police Department's
Narcotics Division when he goes berserk after his partner is murdered.
He decides to fight alone and follows a trail of drug traffickers into
unexpected high places. It's been awhile since I have seen this, nice to have it on blu.
Chuck plays Danny O'Brien as he is back in action fighting the notorious Simon Moon, also
known as The Terror. Three years earlier O'Brien had single-highhandedly
captured The Terror and was called Hero by the people of L.A. Now Simon
has escaped and has started killing women again, and O'Brien is the only
man who can stop him.

Jaws at The Alamo!
Tomorrow night I get to cross another movie off the big screen wish list with the Alamo's showing of Jaws. I was the ripe old age of one when this was first released and I am pretty sure I did not see it upon its several re-releases. This is one of my favorite movies and it will be quite a treat to see this movie the right way. "That's some bad hat Harry." See you there!

Digging Up the Marrow
I love director Adam Green and his work. The dude has his own studio, has to date
directed or produced nine movies, writes, created and stars and in his own TV
series, does original shorts and series on his studio’s website, and hosts a fantastic
podcast. I may have missed some stuff
but in short the guy does it all.
Digging Up the Marrow has been a project Green has been working on the
last four years. I am not too sure what the
genre of this movie is and according to Green himself he is not sure either but
mockumentary describes it best for me, with of course a touch of horror.
The movie explores genre based monster art then it takes an
odd turn when Adam Green is contacted by a man who claims he can prove that the
monsters are indeed real. Everyone you
see in the movie plays themselves except for the man who calls Green and that
character is William Dekker played by the great Ray Wise (Robocop, Twin Peaks).
You get to follow Green in his day to
day life and get to see inside the very cool looking Ariescope Pictures studio as
he researches Dekker’s claims and consults with his employees and fellow filmmakers
if there is a movie to be made here.

Zombeavers
The title alone sells this really good horror comedy. Horror DTV movies come out in droves and
sadly most of them are not very good but Zombeavers is one of the rare
exceptions. This movie starts out like
Return of the Living Dead as two dopey guys delivering some toxic chemicals lose
one of the toxic barrels from their truck and it of course gets deposited into
the nearby lake that is heavily populated by big, furry beavers (Sure, pun intended.)
and the chemicals go all over the beaver dams.
Three college girls are on a trip to a cousin’s lake house
and it is supposed to be a get away from the boys as one of the girls has found
out her boyfriend is cheating on her. They
get to the house, meet the neighbors, find they have no cell service but they
do have something called a land line, and they get bored and decide to go
swimming. While on the dock in the lake
they see a beaver dam and decide to go check it and meet one of the locals
which leads up to the greatest exchange of words in the movie.
Later that night the boyfriends decide to show up as well as
a beaver in the house but they dispose of it and throw it in a bag on the front
porch. The next morning while heading
out to the lake they notice the bag with the supposed dead beaver is
empty. How is that so? Give it a spin and find out for yourself. This is a well-made movie as the production
values look really good, the effects are great, and it does not take itself too
serious as it winks to many past horror movies and even Die Hard. This movie is a lot of fun and is highly recommended
if you are looking for a horror comedy.
This is one dam good movie.

New Release Tuesday
A spy organization recruits an unrefined, but promising
street kid into the agency's ultra-competitive training program, just as a
global threat emerges from a twisted tech genius. This is a good looking action flick from
director Matthew Vaughn (Kick-Ass, X-Men: First Class). See next week's Target ad and score this for really cheap.
This was a great first season from co-creator Guillermo Del
Toro about a thriller that tells the story of Dr. Ephraim Goodweather, the head
of the Center for Disease Control Canary Team in New York City. He and his team
are called upon to investigate a mysterious viral outbreak with hallmarks of an
ancient and evil strain of vampirism. As the strain spreads, Eph, his team, and
an assembly of everyday New Yorkers, wage war for the fate of humanity itself. Only bad thing about this show is the wig Eph
wears. This has already been released but this is sweet, new packaging.
A voluptuous black woman takes a job as a high-class
prostitute in order to get revenge on the mobsters who murdered her boyfriend. This is a great Blaxploitation movie, you
should also check out Coffey and Jackie Brown if you like this.
A dock worker becomes a prizefighter, but gets mixed up with
a crooked manager. A sympathetic L.A. detective tries to set him straight, but
he won't listen. His manager, who is also a drug dealer, tells him that he has
to take a dive during an important fight, and to ensure his cooperation, his
girlfriend is kidnapped.
