New Release Tuesday

Hoping to walk away with a massive fortune, a trio of thieves break into the house of a blind man who isn't as helpless as he seems.  I have heard nothing but great things for this thriller and Stephen Lang is always great in anything he has been in.

A girl named Sophie encounters the Big Friendly Giant who, despite his intimidating appearance, turns out to be a kind-hearted soul who is considered an outcast by the other giants because, unlike them, he refuses to eat children.  I thought BFG stood for something else but I will role with the friendly thing.  I think the marketing on this animated flick was really bad as I did not even know Spielberg directed this until its opening week.  This movie was a bomb as it had a $140 million-dollar budget and only cleared $55 million domestically.  Besides this features the guy that robbed Sly of the Oscar this year so he had it coming.

The adventures of an orphaned boy named Pete and his best friend Elliot, who just so happens to be a dragon.  I never cared for the original but I did appreciate the animation mixed in with live action for back then.  Why the hell is the Sundance Kid in this?  Doesn’t Bob Redford have better things to do?  I will pass on this remake.

Ronnie runs a Disco walking tour with his son, Brayden. When a sexy woman takes the tour, it begins a competition between father and son for her love. It also signals the arrival of an oily strangler who stalks the streets at night.  Audiences seemed pretty divided on this little movie so a watch may be in my future.
