Over the Top at the Alamo!

The Alamo Drafthouse continues to show Sly Stallone some love as next month on May 15th the Cannon classic Over the Top will be shown. So grab a friend, jump in your truck, turn your cap around, and meet me there that night.  See you then.  The world meets no one halfway.

New Release Tuesday

Underworld: Blood Wars- Vampire death dealer, Selene fights to end the eternal war between the Lycan clan and the Vampire faction that betrayed her.  What’s not to like in this series?  A girl in tight leather shooting up werewolves is always fun to watch but I must admit this latest sequel was a bit long winded even at 91 minutes.   I am sure there will be one more of these to make it an even six and I will be there to watch that as well.

La La Land- A jazz pianist falls for an aspiring actress in Los Angeles. This year’s Oscar winner for Best Picture is finally out and I really would not mind seeing this because it seems like such a throwback to the 50s.  HOLD ON!  I was just informed by my accountant that this did NOT win Best Picture, it went to some sucky movie that nobody saw.  Oscar or no Oscar I will still give this a spin.

Exterminator 2- The flamethrower-wielding vigilante John Eastland returns to rid New York of a drug lord and his gang. Oh I cannot wait to have an Exterminator double feature night.

Mean Dreams- Follows Casey and Jonas, two teenagers desperate to escape their broken and abusive homes and examines the desperation of life on the run and the beauty of first love.  I saw the trailer for this after Bill Paxton died and immediately looked up what was left on his resume.  We have this and The Circle which comes out today in theaters.  That’s it, game over man.  R.I.P.
