New Release Ketchup Day

I have been on vacation or busy working, mowing, watching baseball, movies, and life in general.  So see the few interesting release of the last couple of weeks.

Batman: Mask of the Phantasm- Batman is wrongly implicated in a series of murders of mob bosses that is actually committed by a new vigilante assassin.  It is about time this made it to blu ray.  This is one of the best Batman movies ever and this was made during the Animated series run so it has all the best talent that show had to offer at the time.  I love that they still use voice talents Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill in some of the new animated movies.  Highly recommended.

Silkwood- A worker at a plutonium processing plant is purposefully contaminated, psychologically tortured and possibly murdered to prevent her from exposing worker safety violations at the plant.  I have always liked this drama even when I was a kid because director Mike Nichols (The Graduate) just made the surroundings of this movie seem and feel like everyday life and the three leads in this are absolutely fabulous.

Slither- A small town is taken over by an alien plague, turning residents into zombies and all forms of mutant monsters.  Do you know director James Gunn?  He only wrote and directed those little Guardians of the Galaxy movies.  This was his first feature movie and it is quite good and had a cult following even before his break through films.  Just watch this and you will see the look, feel, and even some of the same troupe of actors that are in Guardians and notice that Disney let Gunn do his own thing and that is awesome.

Re-Animator- A dedicated student at a medical college and his girlfriend become involved in bizarre experiments centering around the re-animation of dead tissue when an odd new student arrives on campus.  This has been issued on blu before but this is from the great Arrow Films so it will probably be a notch up on the previous release.

There is nothing really new here but these steel books are pretty sweet.  I already got Escape.  I will probably bite on the others too.
