New Release Tuesdays

Cry Macho- A one-time rodeo star and washed-up horse breeder takes a job to bring a man's young son home and away from his alcoholic mom. On their journey, the horseman finds redemption through teaching the boy what it means to be a good man.  Always good to see Clint in front of the camera because we are not going to get many more of them and at 91 the dude is still the man.  This script has been making the rounds for over forty years and Clint almost made it back in the 80s but let it go then.  It has been thru many hands, Arnold was going to do it as his comeback after serving as Governor, but this found its way back to Clint.  The story is not the strongest but Clint is the only guy that could do something with it and as always it just great to see him on the screen.  Dwight Yoakam is great in this and needs to act more.  This is not the best Eastwood movie but see it to enjoy one of the last legends in Hollywood.

Krampus: The Naughty Cut- A boy who has a bad Christmas accidentally summons a festive demon to his family home.  I love Christmas horror movies and this one ranks up at the top.  Scream Factory brings us this new cut and I cannot wait to check it out before Christmas.

Trog- A sympathetic anthropologist uses drugs and surgery to try to communicate with a primitive troglodyte who is found living in a local cave.  This is one of those bizarre movies where has been Hollywood titan Joan Crawford needed a paycheck and agreed to be in this what is now a cult classic.  I have never seen this but would like to check this out sometime.

Werewolves Within- Feature adaptation of the video game where werewolves attack a small town.  This is a fantastic horror comedy that gets that tone just right and this is one of the best genre movies of the year.  Give it a spin.

Venom: Let There Be Carnage- Eddie Brock attempts to reignite his career by interviewing serial killer Cletus Kasady, who becomes the host of the symbiote Carnage and escapes prison after a failed execution.  I enjoyed the first one so will pick this up some.  Woody Harrelson makes any movie better.

The Last Duel- King Charles VI declares that Knight Jean de Carrouges settle his dispute with his squire by challenging him to a duel.  This will go down as the bomb of the year as this big budget feature suffered greatly from the pandemic as the mature movie going audience are still not going to the movies.  This should have went the streaming route.

The Spanish Chainsaw Massacre- Apparently chainsaw massacres happen south of the border too.
