New Release Tuesday
Sony has to keep cranking Spider-man movies out or they risk
the rights reverting back to Marvel and they are not going to do that. The first reboot of this series was not bad
but when I heard the follow up was going to have three bad guys or more I knew this
movie was in trouble. Doesn’t Sony
remember Spider-man 3? Anyway way this
came out and was number one at the box office for a week and seemed to just disappear
after that. I had a free ticket to this and
did not even go because of lack of good news about it.
Underwater deep-sea miners encounter a Soviet wreck and
bring back a dangerous cargo to their base on the ocean floor with horrifying
results. I have not seen this since it debuted
on cable. This has a really good cast
with Peter Weller and the late Richard Crenna leading the way. Directed by the late George P. Cosmatos (Rambo:
First Blood Part II, Tombstone, sorta)
This is a nice under water monster flick.
I don’t remember much about his flick but I recall it was on
late night Cinemax a lot. Great cover art!
This is another re-release of a Walker two part episode from
season 2. I am really curious as to why
we are getting these releases that are already available in season sets. $10 for this one episode or $15 for all of
season 2…hmmmm? Anyway this is a spin kicking good time either way.

PG-13 Expendables is A Dud at the Box Office
Sly and Lionsgate should have known better. The Expendables 3 PG13 debuted to number four at the box office with 16 million, a far cry from when parts one and two debuted at the number one position. You cannot change the ratings of your franchise from an R to PG13 and not expect some backlash from the fan base. The film leaked online a few weeks ago so the studio is blaming the soft opening on that but my opinion is the PG13 rating is a bit of a turn off for a Stallone action movie. If I want to see PG13 action flick I will go see a Fast and Furious movie. I was a paying customer on Friday night and word is the blu ray will be rated R so hopefully I will not have to watch watered down Expendables again.

New Release Tuesday
Based on the hit video game series, Batman must find a bomb
planted by the Joker while dealing with a mysterious team of villains called,
The Suicide Squad. Warner Brothers has
been churning out some great DC animated flicks and Kevin Conroy of Batman: The
Animated Series returns to voice the Dark Knight. This looks really good.
Another movie about killer bears who attack a city and eat
people, their food, and sleep in their hammocks.
A train with medical supplies and a small U.S. Army unit is
heading through the Rocky Mountains towards a plagued Fort Humboldt. Among its
passengers are territory governor, priest, doctor and U.S. Marshal with his
prisoner, John Deakin. However, nothing on that train is what it seems. Love me some Chuck Bronson.
A melon farmer battles organized crime and a hit man who
wants to kill him. Chuck Bronson is a
bad ass in this as he takes on the mob with some watermelons and a shotgun. Highly recommended.
Teenage superheroes strive to prove themselves as members of
the Justice League. This was a good
series that Cartoon Network just trashed and got rid of it along with the rest
of their DC Nation programming minus Teen Titans. Look for Robin and other young heroes in this
and even The Dark Knight makes a few appearances too. I am glad to see this in a season format now,
the DVDs released of this were best of volumes that were not in order.
Farmer Vincent kidnaps unsuspecting travelers and is burying
them in his garden. Unfortunately for his victims, they are not dead. He feeds
his victims to prepare them for his roadside stand with jerky. Scream Factory brings us this fun, cult
classic loaded with many special features.
The MGM DVD release of this was less than stellar so this upgrade is
well worth it. That is some great new
artwork as well. Checking in is easy ...
Checking out is hell.
The Toxic Avenger is born when mop boy Melvin Junko falls
into a vat of toxic waste. Now evildoers will have a lot to lose. The movie studio Troma Entertainment made its
name with this cult classic and three more sequels. This low budget, badly acted flick is a lot
of fun so check it out.
The cover of this alone grabbed my attention. Easter Bunny with a chainsaw is brilliant!
