New Release Last Tuesday

I watched all the Planet of the Apes movies for the first time last year and really enjoyed them.  And no, I did not watch the Burton/Marky Mark version.  Rise of the Planet of the Apes was a nice prequel to setup the evolution of the Apes story and I look forward to this continuation of the story.  Plus James Franco is not in this one!

This has been the best show on TV the past few years.  Great characters, plots, and subplots make this the most enjoyable thing on the box to watch.  I admit this was probably the weakest season so far but bad Justified is better than most things on TV anyway.  Season six will be the final season so Raylan has been tasked with bringing down Boyd for good.  Lots of Olyphant and Goggins on screen should make this quite an excellent last season.  Season six starts on FX, January 20th.

A naive man is appointed to fill a vacancy in the US Senate. His plans promptly collide with political corruption, but he doesn't back down.  This is a classic that is a must watch.  Starring Jimmy Stewart and directed by Frank Capra.  If you do not like this then something is wrong with you.

A thriller that tells the story of Dr. Ephraim Goodweather, the head of the Center for Disease Control Canary Team in New York City. He and his team are called upon to investigate a mysterious viral outbreak with hallmarks of an ancient and evil strain of vampirism. As the strain spreads, Eph, his team, and an assembly of everyday New Yorkers, wage war for the fate of humanity itself.  This is a great show so far, smarter than Walking Dead and it is from the great Guillermo del Toro.  Check it out!

Recently widowed Doctor Michael Hfuhruhurr, the world's greatest neurosurgeon, injures Dolores Benedict in a car accident. He operates on her and saves her life using a technique of his own invention: cranial screw-top brain entry. As Benedict recovers, Hfuhruhurr falls in love with her and they are soon married. However, Benedict is only interested in Hfuhruhurr's money and Hfuhruhurr still yearns for his previous wife. They travel to Vienna to attend a medical conference where Hfuhruhurr finally divorces Dolores, meets a mysterious Doctor Alfred Necessiter and becomes entangled in a series of murders committed by The Elevator Killer.  Warner Archive brings us this unappreciated Steve Martin classic and in the correct aspect ratio too!
