Movie Poster Wednesday- Last House on the Left

New Release Tuesday

A one-of-a-kind story about two-of-a-kind men who (for better or worse) changed film forever.  I have been hearing about this documentary about Cannon pictures for a long and it is finally out on disc.  I grew up on these action movies and still love most of them today.  If you watched anything with Chuck Norris or Charles Bronson from the 80s then you’ve seen Cannon films and the men behind Cannon even got Sly Stallone and Dolph Lundgren to star in some too.  This looks like a good watch.

A desk-bound CIA analyst volunteers to go undercover to infiltrate the world of a deadly arms dealer, and prevent diabolical global disaster.  I got to admit Melissa McCarthy is pretty darn funny and this has Jason Statham in it so it’s got to be a descent film.

A family whose suburban home is haunted by evil forces must come together to rescue their youngest daughter after the apparitions take her captive.  Another unnecessary horror remake, there is plenty of old mediocre horror movies out there that should be remade because they were just mediocre.  Why keep remaking good classic movies?  Now, this rule does not apply to Mike, Jason, Freddy, and Chucky, etc.  Keep on making those.  Dracula and Frankenstein’s monster have been getting sequels and remakes for over seventy-five years.

A nerdy boy buys a strange car with an evil mind of its own and his nature starts to change to reflect it.  This flick is directed by the great John Carpenter and is based on a Stephen King novel.  This is a great horror flick with really good car special effects.  Bravo to Sony for releasing this on blu ray after licensing it to Twilight Time two years ago for a ridiculous price. Highly recommended.

A small town sheriff sets out to find the two kids who have taken his car on a joy ride.  It’s pretty nutsy to steal a cop car.

Movie Poster Friday- Creed

New Release Tuesday

After a humiliating command performance at Lincoln Center, the Barden Bellas enter an international competition that no American group has ever won in order to regain their status and right to perform.  This one was not as good as the original but it was a worthy follow up.  I love Elizabeth Banks in these, she is hilarious and she directed this too.

Barry Allen wakes up 9 months after he was struck by lightning and discovers that the bolt gave him the power of super speed. With his new team and powers, Barry becomes "The Flash" and fights crime in Central City.  This show gets really good reviews and it is a super hero show so I will need to get onboard with this one of these days.

Spoiled billionaire playboy Oliver Queen is missing and presumed dead when his yacht is lost at sea. He returns five years later a changed man, determined to clean up the city as a hooded vigilante armed with a bow.  See above comments.

LA cops Gould and Blake get in over their heads when they don't heed orders from above and go after a big crime boss. While higher ups in the police department want the cop duo to just focus on nabbing petty criminals, the team does so while still going after LA kingpin Rizzo. Various fist fights, chases, shootouts and other carnage occur as the two cops go after Rizzo's crime syndicate.  This is directed by the great Peter Hyams (Outland, Timecop).  I love 70s cop movies.
