New Release Last Tuesday

Silent Rage- A sheriff tries to stop the killing spree of a mute maniacal murderer who, as the result of years of medical experimentation, has the ability to self-heal. This is the closest thing to a horror movie Chuck ever did and it is great.  This is like Chuck vs Michael Myers.

The Mummy-An American serving in the French Foreign Legion on an archaeological dig at the ancient city of Hamunaptra accidentally awakens a mummy. I thought this was bad when it came out mainly because of the crummy CGI but with Universal bringing their classic monsters back via The Dark Universe beginning with Tom Cruise’s The Mummy this summer I may give this another spin.

Streets of Fire-A mercenary is hired to rescue his ex-girlfriend, a singer who has been kidnapped by a motorcycle gang.  I think this movie was a little ahead of its time but it has achieved cult status over the years.  This is a really good action movie with great visuals, musical numbers, and a strong cast including the late, great Bill Paxton.  Directed by the great Walter Hill (48 Hours, The Long Riders).

Resident Evil The Final Chapter- Alice returns to where the nightmare began: The Hive in Raccoon City, where the Umbrella Corporation is gathering its forces for a final strike against the only remaining survivors of the apocalypse.  This is not really the final chapter as Sony just announced this up for a reboot.
