R.I.P. Blu Rays at Costco

Back in the good ol' days.

A trip to Costco is usually depends on whether I am out of protein powder or TP.  Or I need a cheap lunch.  Today I was running short on protein so I went on my lunch break.  Now, you guys know I am a physical media kind of guy.  I have been streaming more movies lately but I still like to be able to hold and smell the disc if I want.  When I go to Costco I always go by the media section with books, magazines, and movies and I usually score some kind of title but today there were hardly any movies.  They had some random Disney titles and Wonder Woman.  That’s it. I did a loop around the section to make sure I was seeing this correctly.  Nope, still none.  So, add Costco to the list and places where you can no longer buy movies at any more.  I am really going to miss their Criterion sales.  Amazon, I love you so much even more today.  I guess I need to find a new cheap lunch place now.

Victor Crowley Returns!

The cat has been out of the bag for weeks now but it turns out that secret movie that director Adam Green has been making for a while is none other than a Hatchet sequel titled ‘Victor Crowley’.  This is a great surprise because if you listen to Green and director Joe Lynch’s wildly popular podcast The Movie Crypt, Green has talked about not wanting any part of another Hatchet movie for a long time.  If you listen to the show you would know that Green ran into some hard times through no fault of his own in recent years but the passing of legendary horror director Wes Craven and the advice of the now late George A. Romero made him go back to Honey Island Swamp and bring his creation back to the big screen.

Victor Crowley is getting the road show treatment as Green has announced the ‘Dismember America Tour 2017’ where the movie will be shown in select cities and he will be in attendance at most of these showings.  If you are interested in going visit Green’s site to see the latest tour dates at: http://ariescope.com/category/greens-blog/ .  Green will be here in Dallas at my home away from home, the Alamo Drafthouse in Richardson on October 1.  There are still a few seats left so if you want to go visit here: https://drafthouse.com/dfw/show/victor-crowley-with-adam-green-live .  There are also VIP packages available on Green’s site and a lot of other cool stuff to buy at http://ariescopemerchandise.goodsie.com/ .  Be advised the VIP ticket does not include your Alamo movie ticket so be sure to purchase both if you are going.  Yours truly will be there all dressed up so get your ticket and sharpen up your hatchet and come see Victor Crowley!
