New Release Tuesday

Chucky is back and that is a good thing.  Writer/director Don Mancini has written or co-written all of the Child's Play movies and has now directed the last two Chucky features.  This is one of the few series where you can say it has gotten better over time especially with the last two with Mancini at the helm.  Curse of Chucky leaves the comedy behind and gets back to straight horror as Chucky just shows up in the mail sporting a new look and then the trouble starts.  Brad Dourif returns as the voice of Chucky and I must say this movie is really good and is a lot of fun.  Too bad this did not score a theatrical release and I am going on record now that this is one of the best direct to DVD movies you will ever see.  Highly recommend.

Wow, it has been a long time since I have checked this out.  A diplomat is nearly killed and a submarine and its crew are shrunken down and sent into his blood stream to save him.  There they incur the wraith of the human body.

The first was mediocre, the second was a retread, and the third will not fool me.  Pass.

This Summer dud had disaster written on it before release.  The Smiths continue to whore themselves out for money and Scientology.  Bad scripts finally caught up to the golden boy as I bet he actually reads the next one before worrying about how much the check is for.  Another pass.

Interesting concept, in a 12 hour period once a year all crime is legal.  Unemployment is 1%, crime is non-existent, and everyone is happy.  Until your home is invaded.  Looks good.

I do not really need to type much here.  One of the best horror movies ever. Re-released for its 40th anniversary and it comes with both versions.  Love that cover of the stairs.  The highest of recommendations.

I loved season 1 of this series and was just so-so on this one.  Jessica Lange is fantastic in this show as season 2 takes on a different story of an asylum and all the creepiness that comes with that.

Great cop thriller from the 90s as Richard Gere is the bad cop and Andy Garcia is the good cop tasked with bringing him down.
