New Release Tuesday

This a great John Wayne Western as the Duke is driving his cattle to the Red River when his adopted son, Matthew, turns against him.  I have not see this in a long time and will pick this up during the Barnes and Noble art-house sale next month.

Warner Archive bring us the first two seasons of A&E's great show about a Wyoming Sheriff dealing with his town's issues and his own personal conflicts.  Season 3 starts Monday.

Gym movies were the rage in the 80s!

Scream Factory brings us the 80s horror cult classic that I just do not remember seeing.  Great cover!

Happy Birthday Clint Eastwood!

Halloween: The Complete Collection

Anchor Bay and Scream Factory have gotten together to finally release us U.S fans a complete Halloween Collection.

From the press release:

“For the legions of Halloween fans, the Deluxe Edition boasts 15 discs and contains all the Halloween feature films – Halloween, Halloween II, Halloween III: Season of the Witch, Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers, Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers, Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers, Halloween H20, Halloween: Resurrection, Rob Zombie’s Halloween and Halloween II. The set includes the NEVER BEFORE RELEASED producers cut of Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers as well as the ultra-rare network TV version of the original Halloween, the network TV version of Halloween II,  plus the unrated versions of Rob Zombie’s Halloween and Halloween II. It is packed with hours of BRAND NEW bonus features including new interviews with cast and crew from the entire franchise! In response to years of fan feedback, the first Halloween will now also include the original mono audio track and the set will include both versions of the original Halloween – the original Blu-ray release and the recently remastered 35th Anniversary version with the mono track added back in! It also comes with a limited edition 40-page book written by Michael Gingold of Fangoria Magazine. The collectible packaging will include a newly commissioned illustration on the outer case and each film will be in its own black Blu-ray case with the original theatrical one sheet as the key art.”

Now this really does sound like the ultimate set.  Unlike last year’s Friday the 13th The Complete collection we are getting every Halloween movie cut I have ever heard or seen of including new and past bonus features.  Kudos to both studios for putting this together and I look forward to this September for the beginning of Horrorweenathon.

Mike's a Pepper too!

New Release Tuesday

This is a good looking World War 2 drama about  some art lovers turned military group tasked with saving art from Nazi thieves and returning it to their owners.  Clooney has been doing some good stuff lately both acting and directing and I am a sucker for war movies.

Kevin Costner has already had 3 movies out this year and has a possible 4th lined up.  This is about a dying CIA agent trying to reconnect with his estranged daughter is offered an experimental drug that could save his life in exchange for one last assignment.  It’s a nice looking action flick from writer Luc Besson (Taken, The Transporter) but I go into this cautiously optimistic because McG (Charlie’s Angels, Terminator: Suckvation)  is listed as the director.

I always thought this is one of the Duke’s best movies of as he gets to show his comedic chops here.

This guy makes good workout music and has done a couple of good horror movies so far so this has potential.  Maybe GWAR influenced?  We will see.
