New Release Tuesday

Assassin’s Creed- When Callum Lynch explores the memories of his ancestor Aguilar and gains the skills of a Master Assassin, he discovers he is a descendant of the secret Assassins society.  I have no interest in this game movie at all.

Robocop 2- Cyborg law enforcer RoboCop returns to protect the citizens of old Detroit but faces a deadly challenge when a rogue OCP member secretly creates a new, evil RoboCop 2.  I have to admit a have a little love for Robocop 2.  It is nowhere near the masterpiece of the original but I enjoy the story and the commercials in the movie and love Tom Noonan as the baddie.  This is from Scream Factory it will look and sound great!

Robocop 3- Robocop saves the day once more. This time the half man/half robot takes on ruthless developers who want to evict some people on "their" land.  Not even Monster Squad director Dred Dekker could save this turd as this movie was made and then sat on the shelf for years because Orion was out of money and could not finish it or market it properly.  This seemed to have brought down Dekker’s career as did not do much after this but I am glad he has resurfaced lately in helping Shane Black with The Predator.  No Weller, no watch.

Batman The Brave and the Bold Season 3- An updated animated series centering on the Caped Crusader himself as he partners and deals with his fellow superheroes in the DC Comics universe.   This was a great show and it was a lot like Batman’66 with a bit of comedy in it.  I have these DVDs but need to decide if I need to upgrade to these Warner Archive blus.

When Time Ran Out- An active volcano threatens a south Pacific island resort and its guests as a power struggle ensues between the property's developer and a drilling foreman. Back in the day I thought this was a Towering Inferno sequel since it had Paul Newman and William Holden in it and Irwin Allen’s name was all over it.  But no this was another disaster movie that costs $20 million to make and bombed with around a $3 million box office return and was the last theatrical movie for producer Allen. It was renamed when it’s network TV rights were sold to attempt to rebrand it but that did not help it any.  The rumor has always been that Newman was under contract to do this so he got it done and used the money to start his food company Newman’s Own.  At least we got something useful out of this stinker.
