Child’s Play 2019- A mother gives
her 13-year-old son a toy doll for his birthday, unaware of its more sinister
nature, he also kills people who disobeyed Andy. I am not sure if we need this remake because Don
Mancini has done a great job of keeping the original Chucky alive and well as
the last man standing amongst Michael, Jason, Freddy, and Leatherface. I believe the story here is MGM owns the Child’s
Play rights while Universal has the Chucky rights so both may continue to make
projects. The last I heard Mancini was
working on a TV series with Chucky but there has not been much news on that in a
while. Reviews were positive on this
remake as it seems to really stand own its own and it has Mark Hamill as the voice
of Chucky so it is off to a great start.
I hope to spin this real soon.
John Carpenter’s Vampires- Recovering
from an ambush that killed his entire team, a vengeful vampire slayer must
retrieve an ancient Catholic relic that, should it be acquired by vampires,
will allow them to walk in sunlight. This was John Carpenter’s last great movie but
I hope he has another in him and he has built some great relationships doing
the music and assisting with the new Halloween movies so maybe someone will
give him a shot, looking at you Blumhouse.
Physically James Woods in a tiny dude but he is absolutely a bad ass in
this movie and make hunting vampires look cool.
Highly recommended. As usual
Scream Factory has packed a ton of extras in here so it is worth the upgrade.
Action Jackson- Vengence drives a
tough Detroit cop to stay on the trail of a power hungry auto magnate who's
systematically eliminating his competition.
It is about time we got a upgrade of this action goodie from the
horrible full screen version that has been out.
Carl Weathers took a chance on being a solo action star but this not
quite set the world on fire but it is a dang fine 80s action movie with a fine
turn by Craig T. Nelson as the baddie.
Shaft- JJ Shaft, a cyber security
expert with a degree from MIT, enlists his family's help to uncover the truth
behind his best friend's untimely death. I have liked all the Shaft movies and
it is rally cool to see three generations here in play. I hear this one is more comedy than action
but I will give it a spin.
